Daniel Boutcher started his career in 2001 with Dex Serv Ltd, the hull & machinery arm of the Thomas Miller managed UK P&I Club . Following the transfer of the Hull book to Groupama Transport in 2006, he was employed by Groupama where he focussed on the yacht and fishing vessel account. In 2010 Daniel moved into Lloyd’s with RJ Kiln Syndicate 0510 and was employed as hull underwriter alongside Des Keane writing the largest book of niche marine hull in the London market. In 2013 Daniel decided to join Canopius Syndicate 4444 where he headed up the niche hull account leading a large proportion of the portfolio until 2017. Daniel founded Amphitrite Underwriting Limited in April 2018.
Des Keane started his insurance career at Street Syndicate at Lloyd’s in 1984 . RJ Kin & Co. purchased Street in 1986 and Des became hull underwriter in 1990. He enjoyed a very successful career at Kiln as Class Hull Underwriter establishing himself as a market pioneer and leader for niche hull and machinery business. Des underwrote the largest book of niche marine hull business in the London market and was voted in the top 10 London marine underwriters (The Gracechurch Report), in the last two reports, most recently in 2018. Des joined Amphitrite Underwriting Limited in October 2018.
Konstantinos Tampakakis joined RJ Kiln & Co. in 2008 via the prestigious and notoriously competitive Kiln graduate scheme. Konstantinos spent his early years on a rotational basis with various underwriting teams including Property, Treaty Reinsurance, Marine and Capital Modelling which he joined permanently in 2011. Whilst he enjoyed the actuarial side of the business, Konstantinos decided that he wanted to be an underwriter and was offered the Hull underwriting position at Kiln in 2013 vacated when Daniel Boutcher departed. Konstantinos was made Deputy Hull underwriter to Des Keane shortly afterwards. Konstantinos joined Amphitrite Underwriting in October 2018. He has a BSc in Computer Science and an MSc in Insurance and Risk Management.
Aidan Holly is a marine expert having spent more than 45 years in the Lloyd’s, Company and UK insurance markets. He has a solid marine background specialising in Hull, Loss of Hire, Cargo and Transportation claims. He is hugely experienced in technical claims handling, operational claims management with a strong focus on high quality claims provision. In 2014 Aidan founded the annual International Cargo Insurance Conference (ICIC).
Ben Jones started his insurance career in 2011 with Torus Insurance. After a change of ownership in 2015, Torus was rebranded as StarStone. Ben was responsible for underwriting H&M, War and Marine Liabilities enjoying good success during a challenging market cycle. As the H&M market softened, Ben pivoted his focus towards writing more of the War and became a recognised market leader. Ben has an MSc in Financial Management and Economics from the University of Sheffield. Ben joined Amphitrite Underwriting Limited in December 2020.
Emily Gibson started her insurance career in 2018 with an internship at Special Contingency Risks and Alert:24, primarily within Kidnap and Ransom, Risk Mitigation, and Accident and Health. Emily graduated with a BA in Politics and International Relations from Loughborough University in 2019. Emily joined Amphitrite Underwriting in June 2019.
Sam Ballard started his insurance career in 2019 with SCOR Reinsurance in claims working on the NAT-CAT side of the business. He then moved to Beazley where he spent the year on a rotational basis with various underwriting teams including PAC, Offshore Energy and Marine Cargo. Sam has an MSc in Business Finance and Economics and a BSc in Economics from the University of East Anglia. Sam joined Amphitrite Underwriting Limited in November 2020.”
